G-7 finance ministers to meet to discuss financial crisis
Finance ministers and central bankers from the Group of Seven major industrialised nations are set to meet in Washington this Friday to discuss how to respond to the sell off on global stock markets. Ahead of the talks, the head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, called on European countries to work together. He told a news conference that unilateral action should be avoided, if not condemned. So far, the European Union's 27 member states have failed to agree on a joint strategy to combat what is being described as the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
