Rubberduck launches Mobile TV for Tele2 Estonia

Norway-based Rubberduck, a subsidiary of Swedish mobile services group Aspiro, has announced that it has signed an agreement to provide ‘white label’ Mobile TV services for cellco Tele2 Estonia; the deal will see Rubberduck manage all aspects of Tele2’s Mobile TV service, including content sourcing, portal development and maintenance. The service will be provided in both Estonian and Russian and users will have access to international video content including Estonian news from ERR and Kanal2 alongside entertainment channels including MTV. Most content will be provided free, although data subscription packages will be made available. No financial details of the deal have been revealed. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Tele2 Estonia is the second largest cellco in Estonia by subscribers, claiming a 31.6% market share at the end of June 2008, behind Eesti Mobiiltelefon which had 47.4%.
