Location: Ethiopia - Addis Ababa
CARE Ethiopia seeks a Chief of Party for a 3-year, USAID-funded program focusing on “Linking Poor Rural Households to Microfinance and Markets”. The position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. S/he will lead the overall planning and implementation of the project, overseeing all aspects (programmatic, financial, administrative, personnel). The CoP will lead the overall program strategy to enhance strategy that supports the ongoing Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and other food security efforts while creating or strengthening linkages to market opportunities, access to informal and formal financial services, and the delivery of complementary technical support and training for household financial management.
Specific responsibilities include:
- S/He will ensure that all project interventions are of a high quality and lead to measurable impact. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing the annual work-plans preparation, identifying external technical support needs, ensuring that appropriate technical and budget management practices are being used in project implementation;
- Plans, in coordination with the key program staff, development of resource materials, coordination of meetings with partners and donor;
- Supervise key program staff – both technical and operational;
- Ensure the timely completion of all designated project component deliverables
Qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in Economics, Business, and/or International Development or other relevant field;
- At least 10 years of experience working in Microfinance and/or Economic Development sectors;
- Minimum 7-8 years in senior management position;
- Experience in designing, managing and implementing microfinance/value-chain activities focusing on gender impacting activities
- Proven capacity to effectively manage and mentor staff with various levels of skills and experience;
- Strong negotiation and facilitation skills and experience working with senior level government officials;
- USAID program management experience a must;
- Ability to collaborate with people and organizations of diverse backgrounds;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
