Accra gets ready for ACP Summit
ACP Press Statement Leaders from 79 states in the African, Caribbean and the Pacific Group and some invited reputable world leaders will gather in Accra, Ghana, from September 30 to October 3rd 2008 for the sixth Summit of ACP Heads of State and Government. Preparation for the Summit, which will discuss and adopt decisions on important critical issues facing the ACP Group, is well underway in Accra. Ghana’s Ambassador to the European Union, Her Excellency Ambassador Nana Bema Kumi, says the President, Government and people of her country are looking forward to embracing ACP leaders and other distinguished invited leaders for the Summit. She adds that there is excitement in Accra as it gets ready to host the Summit. ACP Secretary General Sir John Kaputin said the Secretariat has been working closely with the Ghanaian Government and he is looking forward for a successful Summit. The ACP Summit is one of the largest gatherings of world leaders, besides the United Nations General Assembly.
