New UN guidelines on deep water fishing

UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has announced that the draft International Guidelines for the Management of Deep-Sea Fisheries in the High Seas were adopted. The international guidelines are aimed at limiting the impact of fishing on fragile deep sea fish species and habitats and provide a framework that fishing nations should use when operating in high-seas areas outside of national jurisdictions, where many deep sea fisheries (DSF) are located.
