Some news from CTA

CTA attended a meeting of the Development Committee of the European Parliament held in Brussels on 25 August. On the agenda were a number of issues relevant to CTA’s mandate and activities. One of these was the exchange of views on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and the Council establishing a facility for rapid response to soaring food prices in developing countries, based on the draft report of the Irish MEP Gay Mitchell. Representatives from some European Development Aid Agencies also discussed the theme of aid effectiveness and financing for development prior to Accra and Doha.

On 27 August two representatives of GALVmed visited CTA. By brokering partnerships on a global scale between public and private sectors, GALVmed aims to promote the development of accessible and affordable animal vaccines and other animal health products for the world’s poorest farmers. GALVmed and CTA discussed the possible synergies between both programmes.
