Protection of persons in the event of disasters

A study on the Protection of persons in the event of disasters was presented at the 60th session of the International Law Commission (A/CN.4/590). The report provides an overview of the existing legal instruments and texts applicable to a variety of aspects of disaster prevention and relief assistance, as well as of the protection of persons in the event of disasters, focusing primarily on natural disasters. In addition to the main report, three annexes are issued as addendums to the report; the glossary (A/CN.4/590/Add.1), list of instruments (A/CN.4/590/Add.2) and selected bibliography (A/CN.4/590/Add.3), which is yet to be issued.
